Service Prompted By Duty

The world we live in now is in turmoil. There is no place safe as I watched the sequence of development and necessary updates of this new virus. Fear has gripped the hearts of the brave. Uncertainties have increased in the hearts and minds of many. This has led others to presume and perceive their own meaning to what is happening. In this season, many continue to fabricate unseen information; many are hallucinating (auditory and visual) to insert personal intuitions amidst the Coronavirus pandemic. Watching the news and seeing many that are dead, graveyards full, loads of bodies being burnt daily, and others in the process of dying, it is but a reality that increases fear in humanity.

Tough times are here but the question is what can we do? In the face of uncertainty, what can we offer to the solution of this pandemic? Yes, there are things we can do to help, oh yes I strongly believe. These are the days we are called to love, expecting nothing in return. These are the days we are called to give/share (money, food, clothes, etc.) to people who can never give back. These are the times to give to people who might never be able to say thank you. These are the days to hold onto the pledge to help and defend the sick.

This is not the time to back out, abandon, or repudiate your position but rather stand tall as we battle to victory, knowing that we are not alone. We are encamped on every side but our captain is with us, to guide us through these perilous times. We have absolute faith that beneath God’s wings we are kept safe and His protecting love for us is sure. We are confident that because God is with us we shall not in desert stray, nor miss our providential way but He will keep us far from danger, fear, diseases, and death (Wesley, 1762). We hold evidence of this truth that states “And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night (Exodus 13:21, ESV).

As you begin a new week, it is my prayer that the Almighty God will lead you through this stormy season. During the daytime, may He be the very pillar of cloud that will shield you from every contamination, infection, be it airborne or contact. May the God of fire consume every COVID 19 that comes to your workplace, home, town, community, state, or country. May God Almighty stand between you and every harmful calamity that has been plotted against you.

God is with you, so get up and serve in love, serve in giving, serve with your heart, serve with words of hope, serve with your smile, serve by placing a call to check on a friend, a colleague, or family, pray for someone, etc. God knows you by name and knows how you can serve others with all your heart. I just want you to know that God, your keeper is thrilled by your devotion, smiles at your service, and has plans to bring you the victory.
